Hi,
I am happy with aem 1.8 and have set up a library with about 100 book entries.
However, whenever I use aem 1.8 I am not able to shut down my notebook (Lenovo T410, 4GB RAM, win 7, 64 bit).
The hard disk led keeps flashing up periodically and the notebook does not shut down.
This happens only after using aem 1.8 with some database.
One gets the impression that Windows is trying to close some file opened by aem or write something without success so it keeps trying.
I thought this was because of UAC under Win 7 so I deactivated UAC. No success.
Can you help?
Thanks.
Windows 7 6a bit will not shut down after using aem 1.8

Hi Val,
Please check if aem.exe process remains active after you close Alfa Ebooks Manager
Hi,
I check with Process Explorer 64 and aem.exe is removed from active process list after closing it.
Val
I have done some more experimenting with the program and my database:
the problems with shutting down appear only if a change some database entry (add or delete a book).
If I just search for books or open book files everything is OK.
Can it be that the database file is not correctly closed on exit or that you generate some undeletable temporary file that cannot be deleted by the system?
Thanks for any hint.
Sincerely,
Val
Val, please, check if the temporary database file (for example mybase.ldb) remains open after the software is closed
My temporary library is called Elibrary.ldb and it is deleted when aem is closed.
Check also the configuration file : user.config in Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Application Data/AlfaNetSoft/
But it's unlikely that it can't be saved.
May be you open some ebook file that can't be closed?
Hi,
it seems that the data file was corrupted.
I now generated it again and it works.
Strange, because I was able to open it wit MSAccess and it showed no defects.
Is there an upper limit to its size?
Val
Val, there is no upper limit
...very mysterious.
The only thing I could not analyse are the cover images that are saved as OLE objects.
Is there a way to check that or can I delete all cover images?
Val
The cover thumbs are saved in Byte[] format
You can remove all thumbs in Access and them restore them with the help of "Resize All" button in Options
