Just trying the demo of this. So far I have hit three problems:
- I found of the 30 PDFs I added (all my own book scans that have been OCRed with Adobe Clearscan) about half had their ISBNs successfully found. A bit lower than I hoped but acceptable. However, when I then requested the book info from Amazon, no covers were retrieved (even with the large cover checkbox unchecked). Does cover retrieval work from Amazon?
- I tried to create a report but I get an error: "An error occured during local report processing: Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: Request for the permission of type 'System.Secxurity.Permission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=...' failed. This is running on Windows Home Server (v1, based on Windows Server 2003)
- I found that if I pointed the manager at a SMB share, it 'found' the books but did not link the database entries to the files, so that I could not view the books, extract ISBNs, etc. This seems like a bug; it should either work with network shares or not work at all, not half work in a broken way. Ideally it should work; my server is headless and it is a drag to have to RDP in to run the app on the server itself.
This seems like a good start and has many of the features I want (I had started writing something like this myself). Hopefully these issues can be resolved.

Oh, just incidentally too - it looks like this software currently violates the license(s) of at least some of the included components, like pdfsharp, by not including their licenses.

yes, sure, may be you haven't check the box in the Web Update options?
> it 'found' the books but did not link the database entries to the files
So, the books were created in the database, but with no linked files?
Ah, yes, that fixed the cover issue.
You are correct - the database entries were created but the linked files fields were empty.
ok, SMB share - is the LAN drive?
