Adobe Acrobat Pro is needed to retrieve ISBN from file content. You can also use free GhostScript instead. You can also disable ISBN retrieve feature in the Scan options
You say that there is no limit to how many books that can be stored in the database....but you then say 10,000 is ok. I have upwards of 150,000. Will a single database cope?

It depends on your PC parameters. In any case you can split the database into several parts
