Hi,
aem v. 1.8 is a very good program and has made impressive progress with respect to v. .75.
One question:
in v. 0.75 I subdivided my book collection by creating my own genres. After importing the books into v. 1.8
two things happen:
1)the genres are all on the same level (sub-genres lost their parent genres)
2)if updating several books from the Internet my genre selection was overwritten.
Can I prevent aem 1.8 from automatically overwriting my genres? Or is there another field I can use to subdivide
my books in categories and subcategories?
Otherwise it is a very nice piece of software.
Regards,
Val

Hi,
when trying to delete books to reduce size of database I found the source of the problem:
the windows 7 file rights management did not allow to modify database.
After copying to an "allowed" directory everything is OK.
Thanks for help.

Hi, Val, thanks for your review
First of all you don't need to import v0.75 database - you can just open it with v1.8. And the genres structure will be the same.
To prevent overwriting your genres open in Web Update tool Options -> Update Options and unselect the Genres checkbox
Thank you. Overwriting genre problem is solved.
However, updating existing books from the Internet after opening a 0.75 database gives the following error:
"Error accessing the table "Books", Database "(path of my database)". Operation muss eine aktualisierbare Abfrage verwenden."
Thanks for help.

Hi Val, could you send us your database to support@alfaebooks.com?
